Biography
Since the age of 8, Brodie Tavares has been enamored with the art of music creation. An early obsession over his father’s record collection led to a vast exploration of nuanced sonics and various genres. Through his early journey, Brodie developed a strong interest in learning to play a variety of instruments in an effort to recreate the sounds he was discovering woven throughout timeless recordings.
Upon completion of the music major program at Langley Fine Arts, Brodie began several collaborations that set him on the path to a prolific career in professional session work. Through numerous songwriting credits with international recording artists including ‘The Februarys’ and ‘Dear Rouge’– building into a decade of worldwide touring and Musical Direction work with Juno award-winning artist ‘Lights’, Brodie has acquired a wealth of experience as a professional recording and live performance musician.
Progressing into the modern digital era, Brodie successfully combined his practical music experience and early academic training to pivot into a career as a film and media composer. Currently residing in equal parts Vancouver and Los Angeles, Brodie cherishes the ability to work in both an individual capacity as well as within many collaborative partnerships throughout the industry. From the spiritual journey of ‘Passages - 400 Miles of Exploration’, creepy psy-thriller of ‘The Friendship Game’, or the tongue-in-cheek cinematics of a national burger commercial– one glance at Brodie’s augmenting body of work demonstrates his ability to tell a story, regardless of genre.
Whether it be writing for a simple web advert or a full length feature film, Brodie’s fundamental process remains the same. “No matter what creative situation I find myself in, I’m always trying to achieve the same goal: Building a world that allows for the human emotion of the story to shine through. I’ve been lucky enough to work with some amazingly talented people in my career thus far– helping them realize their true vision of a story is always the most rewarding part of the process.”
